Abstract：
TAPPI is the leading association for the worldwide pulp, paper, packaging, and converting industries and publisher of Paper360□ and TAPPI JOURNAL. Through information exchange, trusted content, and networking opportunities, TAPPI helps members elevate their performance by providing solutions that lead to better, faster, and more cost-effective ways of doing business. PIMA operates as the Management Division of TAPPI. Through TAPPI, suppliers and consultants working in the pulp, paper, packaging, and converting industry have unparalleled opportunities to contribute their technical expertise to the industry; to achieve their company’s objectives, and to develop their core competencies through professional development, education, and training. As the first Chinese mainland scholars to receive this honor by far，Mr. Sun has been leader professor at some big international companies, and own abundant understanding of specialtypapers. This time, he will lead the lecture of new technologies and their applications in specialty. In addition, his visiting will let us know more about the TAPPI, not only the rules, but also so many novel developments in this area.
About the Speaker
Michael Y. Sun, Ph.D., graduated in Northwest Institute of Light Industry in 1982 and received a master's degree in 1985. He received Ph.D. in North Carolina State University. in 1990, and MBA degree in the Ohio University in1999. Worked at International Paper in 1990, served as the Mobile Technology Center Senior Fellow, Georgetown plant production sector engineers. MeadWestvaco Paper in 1996, served as senior research specialist and technical manager, project implementation manager, Senior Principal Scientist.In 2009, he was awarded the "Tappi Fellow", is the first Chinese mainland scholars to receive this honor by far.
Mr. Sun began the field work in the paper industry since the early 1980s,and became a member of TAPPI in 1987. His areas of expertise include: Paper Chemicals; wet process and its optimization; new product development; training, lectures and counseling. Mr. Sun has successfully resolved more than 80 paper machine operation /quality issues in the North and South America, Europe and China. In addition, he worked in imparting the professor workers with wet chemical knowledge at more than 1,200 paper mills in North America and Asia, published more than 100 articles and 10 internal technical papers and his work contributed to the publication of TAPPI in China .
